General Tso Tofu

You’ll get that Chinese flavor that you remember and love! Super easy to put together, and super easy to enjoy! I paired my tofu with sautéed spinach, sautéed onions, and rice noodles.
Serves 4: 288cal per serving of tofu

Ingredients
2 blocks extra firm tofu cut into 1 inch cubes
3Tbs red chili sauce (depending on how hot you like it)
4Tbs chopped green onion
1 clove minced garlic
1/2tsp minced ginger
1 strip orange zest
1Tbs rice vinegar
2tsp sesame oil
2tsp peanut oil (optional)
3Tbs vegetable broth
1/4 cup maple pure syrup
3Tbs soy sauce
1/4 cup water
2tsp corn starch

Directions

  1. Prepare tofu by cutting into cubes. In a large skillet on medium heat coated in oil of choice. Add in tofu and start to brown on both sides, around 3min per side.
  2. In the mean time combine all other ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until corn starch is completely dissolved.
  3. When tofu is lightly browned, turn heat up to medium high and add in prepared sauce. Constantly stirring until sauce start to thicken. Turn off heat and remove pan from burner. Will thicken up more when it’s off the heat.
  4. Serve with sliced onions, broccoli, sautéed spinach, or rice. Pair with anything of your choice and enjoy!
